Mental Health

At Lingard Private Hospital we’re proud of the role we’re playing in assisting people to proactively address mental health illnesses.

We offer a safe and supportive environment to assist people suffering from a broad range of emotional, psychological and substance use disorders. A specialist service is also available for mothers dealing with post natal depression.

Both Inpatient and Day Patient treatment and programs are available. The programs are run under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist and in conjunction with our multi-disciplinary treatment team. These are complemented by additional community based and in-the-home programs.

All patients participating in our mental health programs do so on a voluntary basis.

Discharge Planning

Lingard Private places a strong emphasis on adequately preparing our patients for discharge.  We work with the patient and their treating team to develop a comprehensive discharge plan.

With the patient’s permission, family and/or carers are included in the discharge planning process.

We also place a high importance in referring patients back to or into services available in the community. This includes specialist (psychiatrist), medical (general practitioner), allied health, community support groups, and government and non-government agencies.

In some instances, patients progress from being an inpatient to being an out patient and attending our Day Patient Programs as these programs provide them the additional support needed to assist in their transition back into the community.
